Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Our Father.
What words can I write that encapsulates the beauty and profundity of these two words. The Lord is our Father. Not solely mine, but ours. And we are His children whom He loves.
He is a Father to those with and without an earthly father. He is the Father who stays beside His children. He is a Father to the wayward child who returns home. When His children return to Him, He does not stand to accuse them, deride them, but embraces them. Holds them. Wraps them in His clothes. Honors them. He brings them into His home and celebrates. This is the father I want to be like. This is who I am called to be.
